www.EmploymentCrossing.com Dr. Wei-Qun Ding, an Oklahoma City researcher, has received a $100 million grant from the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Ding, a researcher at the Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center Cancer Institute, is working to identify a new type of component that tells cancer cells to stop growing and dividing. OU officials say this helps them reach their goal of doing more than providing cancer care. Ding is the first researcher in Oklahoma to be awarded this grant. The Dallas, Texas-based Komen Foundation was created by founder Nancy G. Brinker as a promise to her dying sister, Susan G. Komen. The organization promises to invest more than $2 billion over the next decade in breast health care and treatment for the underserved, and in research to discover the causes of breast cancer and, ultimately, its cures. « less
