That honor goes to Berkshire Hathaway chairman Warren Buffet, who added $8 billion to his net worth over the same period, according to Bloomberg news. Fortunately for Gates, he is still the second wealthiest American, and the world’s third richest person, with a net worth of an estimated $55.5 billion. Bill Gates had been number one on Forbes Magazine’s wealthiest Americans list for 15 consecutive years.
