Yet there remains significant disagreement and confusion concerning the time necessary to withdraw all U.S. forces from Iraq. On August 11, The Center for American Progress hosted an event to release an updated version of "How to Redeploy: Implementing a Responsible Drawdown of U.S. Forces from Iraq." The report, which takes into account recent developments on the ground, demonstrates that an orderly and safe withdrawal of all U.S. forces is best achieved over an 8- to 10-month period. « less
